How to motivate yourself to achieve the goal

One of the main factors in achieving your goal is whether you can reach the end in its implementation. And on this path, one cannot do without a systematic approach to self-motivation. Yes, to achieve short-term goals, it may be limited to passion, inspiration, willpower, but how to motivate yourself for a long time? There is one simple solution that has been used by successful people for a very long time. And this technique is associated with the replacement of standards.

Ways to motivate yourself.

Let's first have a little theory. The brain of any person is designed in such a way that he tries to adapt to a certain situation, the existing order of things, and then begins to actively resist any changes. Moreover, we are so accustomed to a certain quality of our life, that it is very difficult both to improve and worsen it. People with different income levels often cannot understand how one can live on low wages for some, and at the same time they cannot understand how each month can spend the fabulous incomes of others.

And it is the financial side is the most indicative of the quality of life. It is difficult for us to determine how happy a person is in his personal life or what kind of relationship he has with his children, but we can easily see what kind of car he rides and which restaurant he has for dinner.

Every person, regardless of income level and any other circumstances in his life, always wishes to improve the way he lives and in every possible way resists any drop in his living standards. And that is exactly what can be used to motivate yourself to act. And there are two ways here - to raise one’s standards or lower, both options are effective, and if they are used simultaneously, they can give an amazing result.

Positive motivation - we raise our living standards.

Do you think that affects our standard of living and income most of all? Our knowledge, skills, some innate talents, character traits or just good luck? Most psychologists agree that the biggest influence on how we behave, what we do and ultimately what we achieve, is made by our environment. So what people do we communicate with, what is the income level of these people, how do they spend their time, what are they talking about and what are they striving for.

We are so arranged that we always strive to be at least at an average level., "no worse than others", only the level of these "others" can be completely different. Agree, if our friends are ordinary entrepreneurs with a middle income of several thousand dollars, and we are hired employees with an income of 500, then we will by all means strive for change. And if entrepreneurs are surrounded, then we will, first of all, consider options for increasing income through entrepreneurship. And we do it all unconsciously, but the desire to reach the level of their environment is very strong.

Therefore, if you want to increase your income, the best way is to start communicating with more successful people. The same way, but with less efficiency, the method of surrounding yourself with expensive things or getting expensive services that are clearly higher than today's income works.

First you need to define your associations personally.associated with more wealth than there is now. Think what it would be most important for you to acquire, to do, if your income grew, say, 10 times. For some, it may be a new car, clothes, an apartment, for others traveling, dining in restaurants or hundreds of other things. Think about what responds best to you and start to surround yourself with these things, services, events. For example,

  • If you want a new smart car - go to the car dealership where it is for sale, sit in it, ideally also make a test drive;
  • if you are interested in expensive clothes, go and measure them in a cool store;
  • Dine in expensive restaurant.

You yourself can come up with hundreds of things, like “try” that level of your income, the way you want it. The same with motivation in other areas. If you want to lose weight, think about how this can change your life, what you can do when you reach it and do it. Go to the beach, put on a short skirt or think of something else. This will bring such discomfort that the desire to achieve the desired will be much higher.

In addition, it is very important to do such things regularly, constantly nourish yourself, so that the sensations are not erased. It seems very simple, but try it and you will immediately feel how the desire to achieve more in your life grows with each such action.

Negative motivation or how to lower your standards for success.

As practice shows, negative motivation is much more effective than positive. There is little pleasant in it, but the results are often higher. Lowering your living standards, the quality of your life is very painful for any person and delivers extreme discomfort and this is the force that will help you to motivate yourself for complex and long-term actions.

Do you think you could have lived if income fell by 2 times? And at 4? Does this seem impossible? But for sure there are people who live with even lower income levels. Put yourself in such a frame so that you have a minimum of money for living. Think about how much money you need to live. No entertainment, no frills, no taxi, no alcohol, chocolate. All that somehow gives you pleasure, but is not critically necessary. If you need a car for work, it is better to leave it, but if it is only for the comfortable transportation of your body, you can refuse.

When you determine the minimum amount necessary for living, reduce it by another 10%. After that, determine the difference between it and your current income. Put the term of the experiment. It can be 3 months, 6 or a year. More than 12 months is not worth it. And set yourself a condition, each month, to postpone the difference between income and the calculated minimum expenditure and live on the remaining money.

If income grows - it will be possible to spend more, save you exactly the amount that you determined at the beginning. If you decide on such an experiment, you will see all the power of a negative motivation, it is very effective, the results will not take long to wait.

A similar approach can be developed to motivate other actions that are not associated with an increase in income.

Double motivation - double effect.

To maximize your desire for action in the direction of the goal, you can by combining both types of motivation, negative and positive. Suppose if you simultaneously reduce your level of quality of life, reduce costs to a minimum, but at the same time visit "expensive" places, go to car dealerships with luxury cars, shops, you can go to travel companies, talk about trips to some islands, and while not buying anything, the level of internal discomfort will increase so much that energy and motivation will be enough to overthrow the mountains.

Do you think that it will be emotionally difficult, that not everyone is able to withstand all this and, in general, is it scary? And the goal that you want to achieve, while not enough motivation to do it, is worth it? If so, then it makes sense to at least try the described technique of changing life standards. It really helps, and you yourself have already understood this, all that remains is the fear of doing. But you need to make this decision yourself.
