How to find a purpose in life and reveal your talents

Sooner or later everyone thinks about their life purpose. Which way to go, what profession to choose, go to live in another country or stay, build a career or family? You always want to make the right choice, so that later you will not be distressed about the time and energy spent. Let's learn how to find a destination in life and discover your talents.

What is the destination?

Everyone puts their own meaning in this word. For some, the purpose is destiny, mission, predetermined from above, a karmic task, etc. Others interpret it as an activity, a job, a revelation of inner potential in a favorite business. But, unfortunately (or fortunately), a person cannot reliably know what is predetermined to him.

Therefore, in this article, the word destination will be understood:

  • search for business that brings satisfaction;
  • meaning and goals in life;
  • revealing your talents;
  • skillful use of soul and body features.

Curious. In the old days, few people thought about their purpose. The son of the king was born to rule, the merchant's son - to take over the father's business, the girls were destined to become a pious wife and mother. The selection was small.

Why look for him?

To live a worthless life, to remain in their old age at the broken trough is the most terrible thing. Without realizing his purpose, a person cannot enjoy work, or any activity at all. It is difficult for such people to create a happy family, because they understand little of who they are and why they live on this earth. Therefore, you need to search for your destination. Having found it, a person can:

  • feel happy;
  • make the right choice;
  • benefit others;
  • succeed in your business;
  • gain confidence in yourself and your abilities;
  • live a meaningful life.

By the way, the destination is not always something high. For a girl, it may consist in creating home comfort, raising children, for a man - in building a family house, providing for a family. It all depends on internal needs.

Looking for the meaning of life

Oddly enough, the meaning of life is in life itself, in its maintenance and creation (the birth of children). Everything above, is already a question of philosophy, and to some extent religion. The great minds of mankind expressed a different opinion on this matter:

  1. Aristotle believed that the meaning of life lies in the happiness that a person receives through thinking and knowing their essence.
  2. Socrates saw the purpose of the human mind in the study of virtue, the perfection of the soul.
  3. Diogenes Sinop believed that the mission of man is to learn to be content with small things, to avoid evil, to come to inner peace.
  4. Epicurus defined the meaning of human life as getting pleasure through deliverance from the fear of death, suffering, physical pain.
  5. Arthur Schopenhauer believed that human life is hell, the incessant struggle with death and suffering, where the meaning is reduced to the realization of the inevitability of disaster, curbing their passions and desires.
  6. A religious person, a Christian, sees the meaning of life in the likening to God, his knowledge, the inheritance of a blissful life.
  7. For a Buddhist, the goal of life is to achieve nirvana - a state of total desirelessness.

Enumerate other people's visions can be infinite. However, it is much more important to find your own meaning. What it will be depends on the needs and aspirations of the soul, character, lifestyle, upbringing. Let's try to understand a little bit of ourselves.

Practical task

It is important to understand that the meaning cannot be imposed, handed or lent. The person should define it independently. So, how to find your destination:

  1. Stay alone and take a comfortable position. Extraneous sounds should not be. Think about what fascinates you, captures, causes amazement and admiration. For example, it can be contact with animals, the study of cell tissue under a microscope, dance skills, achievements in sports, beautiful paintings, photographs. Listen to your feelings, remember them.
  2. Now think about the people who admire you. These can be relatives, acquaintances, historical or other individuals. What kind of life would you like to live? Loud, saturated, filled with victories and defeats or quiet and calm? What is closer to you?
  3. Surely you have a lot of thoughts. To fix them, take a piece of paper and paper. Write down everything you just thought of. Highlight the main points. Starting from this list, you will be able to set goals that will give meaning to life.

Advice of the author. For everyday problems, we often forget about our true desires and aspirations. In order not to go astray, I advise you to print a poster with images that you care about the most. In this way, you can concentrate better on achieving your life goals and not get lost.

We reveal our talents

Every person has talents. They can be creative or technical, physical or intellectual, social and personal. Through their development, man manifests himself, finds his destination. But how to understand what talents you have? We must not be afraid to look for them. Great artists, composers, actors, singers, sculptors, too, once started from scratch. So, let's go to the search:

  1. Surely you have noticed that some things are easier for you than others. For example, communication with people or painstaking work with small details. Either you possess remarkable strength, lift heavy objects with ease, swim well, run fast. Or maybe you enter the role well, can you easily depict sadness, joy, anger? Think and write down what you do best.
  2. At the next stage, ask your close friends, relatives and teachers about your abilities. Perhaps you missed something. Some talents we can take for granted. Add these abilities to the list.

Council Sometimes, to discover talent, you need to test yourself in some kind of activity. For example, to write poetry, draw, cook complex dishes, build, run at a distance, etc. As they say, if you don’t try, you don’t know!

We realize ourselves through activity

In total there are 9 types of activities through which a person can fulfill his mission. Let's look at them all:

  1. Doctoring This may be traditional medicine, psychological assistance, healing.
  2. Teaching. An activity in which a person shows talent to train and develop other people.
  3. Creation. Painting, music, acting, etc. Any art that influences society.
  4. Serving God. The activity of the clergy is aimed at cleansing the world from evil through prayers, rituals, and preaching.
  5. Governing body. Organizers, politicians, businessmen, public figures realize the talent to manage public processes.
  6. Military art. The desire to protect, to show strength and courage - abilities that are highly valued in law enforcement agencies, special forces, etc.

  8. Study. People with research implement talent through new discoveries, theories, ideas, knowledge.
  9. Diplomacy. Activities for those who are able to defeat the word, personal influence without war.

Practical task. Now that you have studied the main areas of activity, identified your talents and aspirations, it is time to take stock. How to know your purpose in life? Using the lists, determine the desired activity and realize yourself in it. This may be a major job or a hobby, it does not matter at all. The main thing is to act from the heart, to receive pleasure from performing tasks.

Summing up, I want to give another small tip. Do not be afraid of your desires. Any goal can be accomplished, you just have to make an effort. If you think that your mission is to become an astronaut or a pilot, find out what you need to do to do this, make a plan, act. Obstacles are needed in order to overcome them. Good luck to know and realize their purpose!
