Stuttering can be a serious reason for complexes not only in a child. Imagine a picture - an adult male, the head of the department holds a speech at a meeting and suddenly at the most crucial moment begins to repeat the same syllable several times. He feels awkward, asks for forgiveness. Once again - and the nasty word gives in, but there is a new hitch. Naturally, no one is listening, the person turns red, turns pale and, without finishing his speech, sits down.

For some, this is nothing more than a plot for a comedy sketch. But many people go through a similar hell every day. Why is this happening, and what is the mechanism of this process? What is it - a problem of speech, mental, muscular development, or just a consequence of stress? And how to stop stuttering an adult and a child?

Stuttering mechanism

What is the mechanism of stuttering, and why does this process arise? We all know what it looks like: a person is trying to say something, but instead of coherent speech you can hear only repeated syllables or words, often there is a prolongation of individual sounds. Pay attention to stuttering and notice:

  • ·    emotional stress;
  • speech apparatus voltage;
  • · Muscular tension of the face, shoulders, neck, chest.

Looking at this state, you can understand that a person is in a state of stress. It is in situations of heightened emotional arousal, close attention to one’s person that even many adults begin to experience difficulties with verbal expression of thought during a public speech.

But most often the problem manifests itself in boys aged 2 to 5 years. We know that during this period the formation of speech occurs, therefore, stuttering can be associated with too fast or, on the contrary, slow development in this regard. What is the mechanism of this process? A person is responsible for oral speech. Three important parts of the brain are responsible:

  • · Auditory;
  • · Voice;
  • · Associative.

Failures in the work of even one of these centers lead to difficulties in pronouncing phrases, individual words. In children, overall development also includes the establishment of synchronization of the work of these departments, so any injuries and adverse factors can halt this process. And the baby begins to stutter as a result of experienced nervous stress or illness.

At the same time, speech muscles also suffer, and complexes appear that lead to bodily clips. Therefore, stuttering should be treated comprehensively. In total in modern medicine there are two types of the disease:

  1. Clonic. It is characterized by frequent repetition of individual syllables, which is accompanied by short involuntary contractions of the muscles.
  2. Tonic. Stuttering occurs on the background of prolonged muscle contractions /

For successful treatment it is necessary to visit a psychotherapist or a psychologist and a speech therapist. At the same time, physiotherapy, sedatives and other drugs must be prescribed. A positive effect is observed from the use of folk and traditional methods of combating stuttering in the complex.

Where to look for reasons

Why do people stutter? Many of us had a similar speech impediment as a child, which eventually disappeared somewhere. "Speak out" - say our grandmothers, when they see how the neighbor's baby stumbles and can not coherently utter a simple phrase. But can this problem only be considered a speech clamp? Consider the main causes of stuttering:

  1. Weakened nervous system due to illness. Similar effects can occur in scarlet fever, meningitis and measles, and less often in chronic rheumatism, asthma, and pneumonia.
  2. Congenital predisposition that occurs in children who were born prematurely or due to complications during childbirth.
  3. Increased level of anxiety, which leads to too strict control by the parents, pressure, frequent quarrels and scandals in the family with the child.

Please note that there are indirect causes of the development of stuttering in a child:

  • physical underdevelopment;
  • accelerated or, conversely, slow development of speech;
  • feeling of inferiority on the background of others;
  • lack of positive emotional contacts;
  • underdevelopment of motility, facial expressions and articulation.

Often they come to the doctor with a story that the kid started stuttering suddenly - he was frightened by a loud sound, an animal, etc. In fact, without preconditions from the nervous system, this cannot happen. Just the reason in the form of anxiety or innate predisposition was already, and the exciting event simply became a catalyst.

Is treatment possible?

First you need to contact a neurologist. You must understand that the sooner you visit a doctor, the more successful and faster the treatment will be. Clamping in the shoulder girdle and abdomen is observed in children and adults who suffer from stuttering. Our body always reflects the psycho-emotional state. Therefore, if you do not know how to get rid of stuttering, start with physiotherapy and regular relaxing massage.

The main course of treatment is prescribed by a neurologist. Be sure to need a visit to a speech therapist to develop facial expressions and articulation. Sessions of a child psychologist are also required. This specialist is needed to "work out" the situation that is traumatic for the child, to remove the general level of anxiety. If you remove the stutter, but do not eliminate the cause, the problem will soon return.

How to get rid of stuttering yourself? Without the help of a specialist, this is hardly possible, but creating the most comfortable conditions for treatment depends on you:

  1. Eliminate stress and work on the atmosphere in the family.
  2. Talk to your child slowly and clearly, pronouncing the words carefully.
  3. Do not shout, do not turn on the music or TV loudly, avoid sharp sounds at home.
  4. Observe sleep and wakefulness.
  5. Meals should be at the same time, make sure that the child has enough calorie dishes. His immunity depends on it!
  6. Exercise and vitamins are important for overall health promotion.
  7. Classical music calms and promotes development. Include at home more often works of Mozart or Tchaikovsky.

Identify the child in the swimming section, yoga or karate. Here the baby will be able to relax and remove the physical clips. Fear of public speech will help to overcome in the circle of choral singing or theatrical.

Effective ways to deal with stuttering

And yet, can you help yourself somehow at home? After all, adults often suffer from the problem and want to speed up the healing process. Let us tell you how to get rid of stuttering yourself:

  1. Look for your option to relax and relieve stress. Spinner, Rubik's cube, rosary - choose one of the options and use on health!
  2. Rehearse important conversations and speeches.
  3. More practice! When there is no one nearby, recite the verses, more often read with an expression out loud, act out the scenes in the faces. Later, when it will be good to be alone with yourself, start “speaking out” in front of close people. This will help overcome the fear of public speaking.
  4. Borrow relaxing breathing techniques from yoga and practice them every day. Learn to be distracted by inhaling and exhaling in stressful situations.
  5. Do not rush to speak! When talking about something, stop more often, make pauses.

A person who stutters, often during speech only thinks about how it would not have happened. Get carried away by the topic of conversation, discard all thoughts about your problem! It will be easier for you to control your speech when you stop focusing on the difficulties with it.
