How to force yourself to work and not idle?

As Confucius said: "Choose a profession that you love, and you will not have to work a single day in your life." I will not argue with a great thinker, let me just say that sometimes even my favorite work gets to the side of my throat when I begin to feel nauseous at the mere thought of it. What to say about those who are forced to work for pennies as a seller or a waiter, simply because there are no jobs? Often we have to work through "I do not want", because "this is necessary". But sometimes this installation fails. What to do, how to make yourself work? I want to share tips, thanks to which I learned to enjoy any kind of work.

We will understand the reasons

A person consistently went to work, worked, received a salary, but suddenly or gradually the desire to fulfill his daily duties had disappeared somewhere. What happened, why work became a burden? There can be several reasons:

  1. You are mired in a routine. Habitual rise at 7 o'clock, burnt scrambled eggs for breakfast, a trip to work on the subway, a stack of papers on the table and monotonous jokes of colleagues. In the evening, a quick dinner, TV series and the usual missionary position. Your whole life passes along a well-groomed rut, monotonous days run in an endless succession, leaving no room for paints. You are so bored and sad that even buying a new sofa becomes a real event.
  2. You have changed life guidelines. Once we were all young students, full of strength and enthusiasm to prove their mental and physical abilities. Probably only in his youth, a person is ready to work for an idea and recognition. But years go by, someone else’s project becomes boring, there is a desire to open something of his own. As for women, the overwhelming majority create families, and further develop themselves as mother and wife, and the career race goes to the background.
  3. You have depression. Problems in personal life, tragedies in the family, illness of relatives and friends very often lead to a depressed state. A person who is depressed cannot enjoy the work done, all he cares about is personal drama.
  4. You have outgrown your responsibilities. Human nature is such that its development does not stand still. It is impossible to perform the same duties with pleasure and interest for many years in a row.
  5. "On the nose" vacation. The accumulated tiredness and anticipation of the long-awaited rest make it difficult to concentrate. Mentally, you are already lying under the palm trees and drinking a cooling cocktail. The same condition haunts you in the first weeks after the rest. But how to make yourself work?

What to do?

As you know, water under a rolling stone does not flow. But instead of scolding yourself for laziness and irresponsibility, look at the problem from the other side.

First of all, understand that a tired, worn-out body will not work fully. Do not forget about the power of habit, if you indulged in idleness for weeks, then it will be difficult to get involved in the work process immediately.

And now practical advice:

  1. Tell the useless deeds no. Pay attention to what you spend most of your time on. If this is talking on the phone, then learn how to turn it off while doing business. If this is the Internet, then find strength in yourself and do not open the browser until the evening. At first, your hands will still be scratched, but after three weeks new habits will prevail.
  2. Drink vitamins. The lack of nutrients in the body leads to chronic fatigue and lack of compliance. Choose any complex of vitamins and minerals you like and drink it for a month. For a good mental performance, you can take tincture of Rhodiola rosea, lemongrass, Eleutherococcus, ginseng root. They not only increase performance, but also have an antidepressant effect.
  3. Change the job. Do not be afraid to change your life for the better, take risks as long as you have the strength and opportunities. Or at least ask the head to change your duties, for sure he will meet you.
  4. Make a plan for the day. To discipline yourself, get a diary and write a to-do list in it. First, by clearly following the plan, you will save a lot of time. Secondly, you will be able to keep track of what you do best with, and what you don’t want to take at all.
  5. Learn to relax. You have to mentally draw the line between work and personal life. Leaving from work, learn to switch, do not think about the workplace troubles and inconsistencies. "Tear off to the fullest" - go to football, to a nightclub, water park, finally jump with a parachute. If you prefer home comfort, then invite guests more often, get a cat or a dog, arrange a romantic dinner with the second half.
  6. Start your day with charging. Morning should not begin with coffee, but physical activity. 10 minutes is enough to tune the body and brain to work. Remember, the first hour after waking up sets the pace for the whole day. Forget about basking in bed, leave this pleasure for the weekend.

That's all my secrets. In conclusion, I would also like to say a few words about the "professional burnout syndrome."

Residents of megacities are increasingly giving up high-paying jobs, selling their business and leaving to live somewhere far away from civilization. They understand that in the race for wealth, a person exhausts himself, instead of enjoying life every day. Therefore, you should not put work above all else, learn how to allocate your resources correctly, and then from any business you will begin to enjoy.
