8 reasons to read books every day

The fact that reading books is invaluable for a person does not need to convince anyone. Why, then, so few people enjoy such a useful and developing activity? Only 10% of us read more than 7 books a year. In order to encourage everyone to read, we present you 8 reasons why you should read books every day.

1. Reading shapes character.
Reading books, artistic, social or psychological, we form our character, regardless of age. Evaluating the positive and negative qualities of the characters, the morality of behavior, we compare the actions of the characters with our own conscience. The ups and downs of book characters often reflect our daily life very well. This means that we are much more inclined to reflect on the decisions that we have already taken or which are just before us.
2. Reading expands vocabulary resource.
The more books you read, the more you will learn and remember new words. The new repertoire will remain in your internal dictionary forever. Already in the thirties, Napoleon Hill in his book "Think and Grow Rich," called for expanding the resource of vocabulary. This contributes to the achievement of success in life - both in private and in professional life. New words stimulate thinking processes that directly affect real actions and expressions of thoughts and feelings.
3. Reading improves memory.
Reading stimulates the imagination to create "video" and images. New knowledge is connected with those that already exist. Reading strengthens the “muscles of memory”, as well as lifting weights develops the muscles of a bodybuilder. With each new information, the brain creates new synapses, improves the work of existing ones and slows down the process of their death. Because of this, you have a much better chance of keeping a better memory than people watching TV.
4. Readers are more inclined to express their opinions and participate in public life.
A study conducted by NEA (US agency) shows that people who regularly read are much easier to adapt to society. They have greater ease and freedom of speech, and express their thoughts and attitudes much more eloquently. This means - new opportunities. Reading also increases self-esteem and makes the chances of success in life more real.

5. Reading books reduces stress and improves mood.
When you read, your world moves to another place, therefore, you do not feel this background of everyday life. While reading, all the flaws of everyday life go into oblivion. Studies in 2009 showed that reading for several minutes a day reduces the level of stress hormones, even up to 70%. This improves your well-being and sleep quality.
6. Reading helps develop analytical thinking.
Have you ever managed to read a novel, and independently predict its ending while reading? If so, then this means that books have strengthened your skills in analytical thinking and imagination. The more you read, the more you are able to see. Also, thanks to reading, we better analyze any information, and it is easier for us to build logical chains. Reading is a kind of brainstorming.
7. Readers quickly learn and learn new disciplines.
Books convey us many valuable messages, as well as interesting facts from different areas of life and science. This means that we become wiser and more intelligent. We look at the world from a broader perspective, which makes us much more objective and allows us to distance ourselves from problems. While reading, our brain works as a player for visualizing read passages. This procedure improves memory. We are able to store information and memories quickly and much longer.
8. Reading can save you from Alzheimer's disease.
Studies in PNAS (American Journal of Science) have shown that the probability of diagnosing Alzheimer's disease among regular readers is two and a half times less. However, this does not mean that reading will help prevent disease. However, there is a correlation between intellectual actions, like the urge to read, which has a significant effect on brain cells.
