How to force yourself not to eat: effective psychological techniques

Anyone who has ever tried to lose weight at least once in his life will say that the most difficult thing is to follow a strict diet. And this is natural, because the people around them absolutely do not limit themselves in nutrition. In addition, the tempting ad around, cozy restaurants on every corner, flavors from fast foods and cafes all the time provoke to succumb to the temptation. Well, and how to force yourself not to eat?

Secrets to help you forget about food

Simple psychological techniques will help control yourself:

  • Tell your friends and family that you are on a diet. First, they will stop treating you with goodies and insist on joint dinners. Secondly, it will be inconvenient to overeat in front of them, as they consider that you do not have willpower.
  • Argue with someone from your friends that lose weight by 5 - 8 kg per month. The amount of money you risk losing should be substantial. Then you just have to limit yourself to food and achieve the desired result!
  • Stop going to cafes and restaurants. Go to small coffee shops, where in addition to a cup of coffee and one or two candies nothing is served.
  • Motivate yourself. Browse thematic sites, groups in social networks. Save in your smartphone a selection of photos of models and athletes. Periodically look through them when you feel that you are about to break.
  • Print a full-length photo of a star whose parameters are the ideal for which you aspire. Hang near the mirror. Would you like a snack? Look at your reflection, and then on the photo. Well, have you gotten it?
  • Make a slimming lifestyle for the time until you achieve the desired result. Register in a gym, choose the most strict instructor. Believe me, you yourself will refuse the extra chocolate or a slice of pizza, knowing that this will negate all the efforts spent on training.
  • Use aromatherapy. Citrus, jasmine and lavender aromas inhibit appetite. Carry a small bottle of your favorite essential oil with you and inhale its aroma when you feel hungry.
  • Encourage yourself for achievements. For example, instead of your favorite cake, buy yourself something or go to your favorite movie in the cinema.
  • Avoid family parties and banquets. If this is not possible, try to be less at the table, concentrate on communicating with guests. If possible, try to leave early, citing poor health.
  • Drink more fluids. Wanted to have dinner - drink coffee, a glass of kefir or a milkshake. I wanted a sweet - "deceive" yourself with dietary cola or freshly squeezed juice. And, of course, do not forget about the daily rate of ordinary drinking water.
  • Take a break from thinking about food. As soon as you feel hungry, engage yourself in any business: a phone call, internet surfing, a walk.
  • Think of a lunch break. Go shopping, walk in the park, read a book in a coffee shop.
  • Avoid cooking in your home. Spend free time in the bedroom or other rooms. When friends come to you, invite them to the living room. Do not arrange long "kitchen" tea.
  • Do not buy products. Let the fridge be the minimum diet set: yogurt, kefir, broth. If other family members live with you, select a separate shelf in the refrigerator for your low-calorie foods. Ask your family for lunch without you.
  • Try to schedule so that free time is almost gone. Thus, thoughts about food will not bother you during the day.
  • Include a workout schedule for 1, 5 hours before bedtime. This will provide deep healthy sleep and prevent nightly “hungry” awakenings.

While pursuing the desire to lose weight, do not be too strict with yourself. Prolonged fasting and self-flagellation due to each piece eaten will only lead to nervous exhaustion and subsequent overeating. At the end of each week of a diet or proper nutrition, arrange yourself "boot" days. This means that you can afford a slice of your favorite cake or pizza. But not more!

The best way is to change your attitude towards food.

Stop counting meals as a source of pleasure. Think that this is just a source of energy for life support. Enrich your knowledge base on this issue. Read about taste buds, about their interaction with the brain, about the work of internal organs. Watch scientific films about where those extra pounds and body fat come from.

It is also recommended to watch programs about food corporations, in which they truthfully talk about chemical additives and marketing moves to increase sales. When you learn what a modern food industry is, the desire to eat junk food in large quantities will disappear by itself.

It is important to change your attitude towards food, to see in it only a source of vitamins and energy. A pleasure to look for in other areas of life. For example, in sports, new hobbies, communicating with nice people.
