How to get rid of depression
In the face of a casual observer, you know a little about depression. Often it seems to people that getting rid of depression is as easy as dispelling an autumn blues or evening despondency. It seems that the consequences will not remain, and you will forget about what happened very quickly, it is worth only a couple or three joyful events to occur.
But this is far from the case.
The question of how to get rid of this ailment is not immediately asked, primarily because it is difficult to understand the seriousness of the situation on your own.
My depression overtook me in the summer, when everything was fragrant, under the bright rays of the sun, and people enjoyed the warmth. It would seem that depression usually overtakes in the fall or spring, when a sharp change in the weather occurs, but for depression there is no limiting factor, in the form of season, time of day, your material or social status.
The first weeks I did not understand at all what was happening to me. The desire to leave the house, keep in touch with someone, enjoy your favorite thing - is gone. Over the long period of imprisonment at home, to which I doomed myself, I managed to assure everyone that everything was fine with me, that these were short-term processes, and they would very soon leave, returning the old one to me. Having inspired everyone that everything was fine with me, I, first of all, tried to believe it myself, but I did not succeed and I became more and more confused.
The exit answers were always very close, but I had no opportunity to see them.
Only a few months later I will look at the tips "how to get rid of depression" and I am covered with a tart sadness. One of the main tips, usually sounds like "do not sit at home, often walk."
To some extent they are right, the walls and loneliness, only exacerbate the overall picture, turning you into an asocial and deadlocked person.
But going out of the house will not be any turning point at all and will instantly inhale all the joy back.
During depression, you are completely, it does not matter: whether the sun is shining on the street, or pouring rain, how much light / dark / pure / dusty in your room, because you do not attach any importance to it. The state of depression is in many ways similar to the immersion in some kind of capsule, whence everything seems faded, you understand that the air in the capsule is rapidly ending, and you ask yourself "how to live further?". Due to this question, thoughts about self-stopping their existence are sharply and too obsessively haunting on their heels.
The following advice sounded like "change the surrounding picture; change the image or the interior." After that, it seems that the person who wrote it never came face to face with depression.
Although, to admit, and not knowing about the existence of such tips, I tried to start my life from a new sheet. I cut my long hair, did a general cleaning of the dwelling, tried to walk more, create more often, but it only created the illusion of life. I existed, trying to assure myself that I live.
External changes will play absolutely no role, unless you first change something inside. This is similar to a rotting apple inside, which we will thoroughly polish outside.
Based on the experience of the long months of my illness, I would like to advise a few things on how to cope with depression:
- Do not refuse the offered help, do not be afraid to ask for help yourself! Take another time for pride.
- A psychologist can really help. Just do not instantly trust the drugs, the miracle of which you will be assured. Although potent drugs work, they cannot live forever.
- Understand that even if it seems to you that there is nothing joyful waiting ahead, there will be nothing good around, and happiness has left you forever - this is not a reality! Allow yourself to try to heal, do not deprive yourself of the right to a happy life!
- If depression overtook you, it does not mean that you need to put a cross on yourself, convincing yourself that you are supposedly worthless. Every person faces a difficulty, and the result will appear only when you believe in your own strength.
- Do not let oppressive thoughts take up. You are the master of your own thoughts. Only you decide what you need at the moment.
- Read a good, exciting book. It actually gives impetus to thoughts leading to healing.
Finally, realize that depression has overtaken and overtakes many, and those who have got out of its clutches are worthy of praise. Believe me, if you hold on now, if you are strong now and win, it will change you in the best, unique direction, and you will always be proud of yourself.
